School Leaver / 16 - 18 yr Old Vocational CoursesThe supported internship is for you if you're 18 and over with an EHCP, and have the potential to move into paid employment. It focuses on developing practical work related skills through hands-on experience in a real workplace setting.
The supported internship helps you bridge the gap between college and employment. It is a work-based program where you'll complete up to 3 different work placements during the academic year. Alongside this, you'll also have classroom based activities and learning that will help you build the skills, confidence and experience you need to reach your full potential as you transition into adult life.
The placements on our supported internship programme will be based at an employer in King's Lynn. This could be at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, at the College of West Anglia in a support department (such as in student services or in the food hub), The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk or another employer. You will be allocated a placement after you start your course.
You need to be between over 18 and expected to show a positive attitude to learning and work in order to achieve your full potential.
An Educational, Health & Care Plan( EHCP) is needed in order to start this course.

Information on Fees and Financial Help
Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
Your progress is assessed continuously throughout the academic year. This starts with an initial screening and is reviewed regularly through your Personal Development Plan(PDP). You'll be assessed individually by your tutor and mentor, based on your completed portfolio of work. You can log in to the online PDP system at any time to view your progress and targets, so you always know how you're getting on.
