Our aim is to support our students to further develop their learning and employability skills and abilities to enable them to make informed decisions about their future education, training, and employment.
Some students who join us might be unsure about their career options or if they have chosen the right course. Part of our role is to support them in finding the right course for them, to start them on their aspirational career path.
We will provide this support through a variety of ways which include:
- High-quality teaching from staff with appropriate industry experience
- One-to-one progress reviews
- Tutorial programme with links to employment
- Work experience placement
- Guest speakers / career fairs
- One-to-one career education, information advice and guidance
We want all parents and carers to be involved in their child’s education at CWA. Your contribution and encouragement are crucial to support their success and progression.

Ways you can help
- Asking your child to give you access to their PDP and LEARN area so you can see the progress they are making.
In compliance with data protection laws, as our students are young adults, they have the option to approve or withdraw permission for us to share information about or discuss their progress at college with others (including parents). We would encourage you to discuss this them and request they provide this permission and give you access to their college records on the PDP and LEARN (as mentioned above). In the case of a welfare or safeguarding matter or in a medical emergency, all students are made aware that we will contact the person identified on the student portal as their emergency contact, irrespective of whether permission has been granted or not. - Attend parent events to find more information about next steps or university applications
- Support your child to seek career guidance from their WPCC or contact the careers team direct.
- Support your child with their studies, show an interest in their life at college and help find an employer for their work experience placement.
- Look at labour market information (LMI) with you child. LMI refers to any relevant information about the current state of the jobs market. LMI will help you and your child to understand what opportunities are available for them and how they can best take advantage of these opportunities.
- Asking your child to give you access to their PDP and LEARN area so you can see the progress they are making.
