What happens after I've applied?

Planning for your future and applying to college is an exciting time but we know that it may be a daunting prospect. You may be applying for numerous education providers and it can be difficult to know what to do next, which is why we have made our admissions process as simple and easy as possible. Following your application, you will receive an acknowledgement email with instructions about how to access our student portal. Here you will have full control over your application by choosing a date from your interview, amending your personal information and accepting offers all from your phone or other device.

Full details on what happens after you apply can be found below.

  • Create a password and log in to the student portal

You will need to create a password to log in to the student portal. To do this, go to our password reset page and follow the instructions in your acknowledgement email (you will need your user ID listed in the email). The following video takes you through how to log in (we recommend watching in full screen):

Once you’ve logged in, you will see your applications and details on what to do next.

  • Application Review

On receipt of your application, our admissions team will assess and determine that this is the right course for you based on your age, grade profile (predicted or actual) and intended career. We will contact you if we have further questions and another course to recommend.

If you have stated on your application that you have a medical condition, disability or learning difficulty, we may request more information so that we are able to support you better throughout your application through to starting your course at the college.

  • Interview and Offer

Once we have assessed your application, you will be invited to attend an interview / information session, where you'll learn more about your chosen course and have the opportunity to ask the course team any questions you may have. You'll be able to choose and book your interview date and time (from a selection) on the student portal and will receive a detailed e-mail following your booking with information on what to bring, what to expect and where to go. You can find more information about preparing for your interview and what to expect here.

Following your interview you will hopefully be given a conditional offer to join the course in September. You will receive a notification to log in to the student portal to review and accept your offer.

Your offer and the entry requirements will be listed on the student portal for you to refer to at a later date.

  • Starting College

Once you have accepted your offer, we will send you detailed information about transport, course fees (as soon as we have them), financial support, equipment and anything else you will need to know about starting college in September.

The majority of the above information is available from the May before the start of your course. For example, you will be able to apply for financial support and transport from the end of May.

During the summer, you will receive details about the start of your course and completing your enrolment which you will do on the student portal.

It's really important that you keep your personal details up to date on the student portal so that we can keep in contact with you about the course.
