School Leaver / 16 - 18 yr Old Employers ApprenticeshipsThis 4-year apprenticeship course will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical capabilities to become a qualified Electrician.
This 4-year apprenticeship course will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical capabilities to become a qualified electrician. As a qualified electrician you will install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments including automated production systems.
Electricians carry out installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage (less than 1000 volts) electrical and electronic devices and appliances. Electricians work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies.
You will be required to complete a work-based evidence portfolio in addition to attending college one day per week. You will complete mandatory weekly 20% off the job time logging on your portfolio. This is the recording of all new learning undertaken within contracted working hours. You will also be required to access and complete Level 2 Maths & English modules throughout the duration of this course.
If you have suitable work experience, you may also be considered without the above.
An interview will be required to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the apprenticeship. We will also use the interview as an opportunity to discuss your employer. Depending on your level of English and maths, you may be asked to complete an initial assessment to show your ability to complete a further level 2 qualification in English and / or maths.

The majority of this apprenticeship will take place at the workplace. You will attend college one day per week on day release at our King's Lynn campus.

The end point assessment to complete the apprenticeship will be the three-day AM2S test. The course is assessed using formative assessment in the form of a logbook, portfolio of evidence and a research assignment. Once the record of achievement is completed an end assessment comprising of multiple choice or short answer questions, practical tasks and an interview is required.
