Jamie studied a Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship at
The Crown Hotel in Wells-next-the-Sea with the College of West Anglia.
During his apprenticeship, Jamie came into college once a month typically on a Thursday. Whilst on campus Jamie attended workshops, completed coursework tasks and had regular 1-1 meetings with his trainer assessor. The rest of his time was spent at his employment, where he said no two days were the same. His busier days would consist of preparing for upcoming functions, dealing with customer complaints, communicating with his suppliers, whereas quieter days would involve deep cleaning.
What Jamie enjoyed most about coming to college, was that it allowed him to meet new people from different backgrounds and industries.
He believes the benefits of studying an apprenticeship include flexibility with working hours, industry experience, enhanced employability skills & earning as you study.
When asked what he would advise other learners who are considering studying his apprenticeship, he stated “Do it! You’ll have a great support network from your trainers in the college and gain invaluable industry experience while you study.”
Jamie succeeded in all aspects of his apprenticeship achieving a distinction. Since finishing his supervisor apprenticeship, Jamie has continued his learning and is completing a Level 4 Hospitality Manager Apprenticeship.
