Hair and beauty student have supported NHS staff by offering free pamper treatments at the Inspire Centre located in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Treatments that were being offered to staff were hand and arm massages, scalp massages, mini manicures, mini pedicures and hair styling. The event was organised by the Health and Wellbeing staff at the QEH.
Staff were able to book a slot during the day to enjoy a pampering session put on by Level 2 hairdressing and Level 2 Beauty students from the college. QEH staff left the Inspire Centre feeling “refreshed and rejuvenated” with the service that was provided.
One QEH staff member stated: “We are delighted with the services CWA students have given us today and we would definitely consider visiting the CWA Salon in the future.”
College lecturer, Natalie Jackson said: “This was also a great experience for the students as they felt that they were giving back to the community, as well as practical experience they could use in the work place. Being able to communicate with clients improving their communication skills, gaining confidence as they speak to new clients they don’t know. It was a busy day for all the students as they had appointments booked back-to-back managing their time with each client.”
One student said “Speaking to the staff has given me more confidence for working life as this is something that can be quite challenging, but we got to know the NHS staff and what their roles were within the company. This event has provided us with a day of work experience and has been very successful for us as we gained hands on experience.”
