Adults Part-TimeOur Pre-Access to Humanities & Social Sciences course is designed to provide adult learners with the confidence to acquire the essential knowledge and skillset to support progression onto our Access to Humanities and Social Science programme; and then on to one of our degrees.
This course, which will run one day per week will provide an introduction to core subject knowledge and relevant academic skills. You will be introduced to basic concepts in History, English Literature, Sociology and Psychology.
You will also have the opportunity to enhance your maths and English skills, as well as specific study skills sessions (such as spelling and writing, critical thinking, research skills etc.) to improve proficiency and build confidence to help aid the transition of returning to education.

Whilst this course has no official entry requirements, you will have an interview / information session with the course director to demonstrate an interest to progress with the area.

Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
Learners will be assessed with written assignments, group work and by demonstrating an understanding of the unit
