Adults Employers Part-TimeThe NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is a nationally recognised qualification and is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK.

Holders of the Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). The Course consists of a minimum of 68 taught hours and a minimum of 40 hours self-study. The course is split into 2 units of study, each of which is assessed separately:
The course training is delivered in a pleasant and modern learning environment in the University Centre at the College of West Anglia (Kings Lynn campus).
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
The course is split into 2 units,
GNC1, is an open book examination to assess what you know, this is scenario based and will include a closing interview where you will be asked questions about your submission.
GNC2, is a practical risk assessment to assess what you can do, submitting a completed risk assessment and develop an action plan for your workplace.
Exam dates are set by NEBOSH and take place throughout the year. The Course consists of a minimum of 68 taught hours and a minimum of 40 hours self-study.
