Following on from our successful Care Start programme, Care Start Plus is here to give you the communication and employability skills you'll need to thrive in the health and social care sector.
With over 350 roles in the NHS and social care, this course is designed to give you a range of knowledge and skills that can be transferred into any job role.
From nursing to domestic services, administration to catering, healthcare assistants to volunteers in the community, this course will support your ambitions.

Course Description
Why Enrol for Care Start Plus?
In just 10 weeks, you will work towards an accredited Level 2 Award in Employability Skills a great addition to any CV or job application. You'll be able to study in our state of the art School of Nursing Studies with outstanding facilities and expert staff with decades of industry experience. You'll have access to expert careers mentorship including guidance on career planning, CVs and applications.
Course Description
On this course you will:
- Practice key skills with expert tuition using our award winning simulation resources across a range of real world and digital platforms.
- Enhance written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, supporting you to provide excellent care.
- Learn about effective teamwork in realistic situations designed to build your confidence and resilience.
- Work on a personal development plan to support you to achieve your career goals.
- Learn the skills required to manage difficult conversations and engage in discussions and debates with your peers to develop your professional voice.
- Learn the importance of confidentiality and duty of care through innovative approaches to learning.
- Complete an introduction to the Care Certificate.
- Meet various guest speakers from across the health, social and voluntary sector.
- Be part of a safe, enjoyable culture of learning as part of the College of West Anglia community.

This course will run for 10 Tuesdays 9am-4pm from 1st October (apart from 29th October which is during half-term) and again from 21st January until 1st April (apart from 18th February which is during half-term)

Course Fees

The course will be free to the majority of students, but if you haven't lived in the UK for 3+ years you are likely to have fees of £270
Adult (19+) learners
Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
