Course Description
Our level 2 safeguarding adults course develops an understanding of the importance of dignity and safeguarding in adult health and social care roles. Whether you are an individual looking to develop skills in safeguarding adults or an employer looking to upskill their staff, this course will provide the training provisions you need.
What will I study on this course?
- Unit 1: Understanding safeguarding in adult health and social care
Learn about the national and local responsibilities in safeguarding and protection from abuse. Study how to effectively recognise abuse and harm, as well as respond to possible cases of abuse or harm occurring within a health and social care environment.
- Unit 2: Principles of dignity in adult health and social care practice
Explore the principles of dignity, self-worth and well-being and how these can be promoted through health and social care practice. Consider how the individual patient is impacted by health and social care services and how principles of dignity can be applied this section will further your understanding of how safeguarding can improve a persons situation dramatically.
- Unit 3: Understand duty of care in adult health and social care
Explore the meaning of duty of care, along with how it influences health and social care practice. Develop knowledge of dilemmas and conflicts relating to duty of care and the wide range of support advice available for resolving such instances.
- Unit 4: Understand dilemmas and public concerns in adult health and social care
Develop an understanding of the various dilemmas that can occur in adult health and social care, including ways of recognising dilemmas, how best to resolve them and the support available in doing so.

Adult (19+) learners
Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
