Access to Higher Education
Adults Part-TimeThis is a FREE 10 week return-to-study course aimed at people aged 19 or over. The programme is designed to improve your confidence as well as your study skills, whilst helping to prepare you for those first steps towards further or higher education.
This short course is designed to give you an idea of college life as an adult and have the opportunity to try out the subject you wish to study further with no pressure or costs.
During the course, you will cover numerous topics to prepare you to progress into another course or employment. These may include exploring your career options, digital skills, managing your health and wellbeing, employability skills (such as writing a CV), building your study habits, research skills and much more. On top of this, you'll also complete numerous sessions in your preferred subject from the following programme areas:
The remaining hours will revolve around academic study skills and tutorial sessions to help support your return to education and progression.
Following this course, you will have the opportunity to apply to a Pre-Access, Access or full-time programme.

Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
You will receive a college certificate.
